Hundertwasser – Schiele
Enemies of the straight line
20 years after the death of Austrian painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser the Leopold Museum dedicates a very special exhibition to him and his idol and source of inspiration Egon Schiele.
Hundertwasser is considered to be a creator of unique living spaces and a predecessor of the environmentalism movement.
In his works round elements were often used as a symbol for the earth and it’s surroundings, executed in many different ways from paintings to mosaics and much more. We tried to implement his idea by using a round center which everything grows out of. A variety of different flowers and colors, all coming from a black core.
Everything grows away from the earth, defying gravity.
